A Note About “Pet Safe” Flowers & Plants
A brief overview on toxicity to help keep your furry friends safe & healthy
Is there really such a thing as a truly “pet safe” flower or plant?
One thing we often say here in the shop is that professionally, we choose to assume that most cut flowers and some houseplants are generally not considered safe for your pet, unless you have exclusively bought something from a grower or seller that is explicitly intended for pets.
During the colder months, our flowers come from all over the world from all sorts of growers and conditions, and even the most scrupulous sourcing can’t guarantee that your flowers haven’t come from somewhere that uses pesticides or other chemicals that would be considered dangerous when ingested.
So the short answer, from Four Buds at least, is no; we really don’t consider any cut flower truly safe. That said, there are several varieties that are considered less dangerous than others. Check out the list below for an idea.
